Demolition Begins

As most of you already know - we have conquered a few home renovation projects during the past 2 1/2 years. Some have been planned, others were done in response to unexpected leaky pipes. The first project was our master bath. We returned home after spending our first Christmas together (in California) only to discover that our bathroom pipes had a leak which resulted in a wet breaker box downstairs and the only way to fix the pipe was to tear out the shower wall. This redo happened very quickly and (honestly) we took the most inexpensive route. The second project was our downstairs 1/2 bath. This was voluntary and also allowed Michael to run electrical and cable wires for a flatscreen TV in the den (how very convenient, huh?). The second project was much nicer (see the top two pictures) and ever since completing it we've discussed redoing the original master bath.

Saturday Afternoon: We set out to "price" everything and happened to come upon the exact pieces we were looking for and they were priced incredibly well. So, we bought all the cabinets, granite countertops and sinks to redo both the master bath and the guest bath. The guest bathroom has been left virtually untouched up to this point (we cannot even count my "let's paint formica countertops" project). The original 1970's pea green tile dominates this bathroom.

Sunday Afternoon
: Demolition begins. While I attended a baby shower, Michael found his demolition tools. :) I'm going to try and post pictures so that you can watch the progress unfold. I call these "our" home renovation projects but, in all honesty, Michael is the one that does the work. I find it truly amazing! The first step was to rip up the floor and remove the existing vanity ...

Our attempt to keep the "dust" contained (yeah, right)! :)

What used to be our toilet ...
What used to be our vanity (We ran out of "texture" last time and so decided not to finish the portion of the wall that was to be hidden by the vanity. I told you, we took the inexpensive route!).

Next, we have to find tile to match our countertops and then fix the plumbing so that we can have two sinks instead of one! :)
