Any celebrity couple knows they have reached superstardom when then the paparazzi invents a special name for the couple. It usually uses one part of each name to create one single word that then becomes synonymous with that couple.
Examples:
Benifer - Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner/Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez
Brangelina - Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
TomKat - Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes (the creepiest couple ALIVE)
For the record, I abhor this practice of coming up with nicknames for couples. It's just one more silly invention of our celebrity-obsessed culture. But since election season is upon us and politics has eclipsed pop culture in the current news cycle, I think we should extend the same courtesy to the candidates and make up silly names for them, too.
For all the effort they are putting into an attempt to draw contrasts between themselves, Hillary and Obama have essentially no policy differences between them. Politically speaking, they are the same person. With this in mind, the two Democratic candidates for President shall henceforth be known as Hillobama.
My prediction is that John McCain and Hillary Clinton will be the nominees of their respective parties. It won't be long before the other candidates fade into the sunset and all we will hear about is McCain and Clinton. The media will then refer to them both as McHillary. Or perhaps McClinton. You heard it here first.
The two candidates most attractive to evangelicals are Fred Thompson (whom I expect to drop out any day now) and Mike Huckabee. For simplicity's sake, evangelicals should just refer to them as Huckafred. That about sums it up.
Oprah's campaign appearances with Obama in Iowa and South Carolina have received a lot of media attention. She has never endorsed a candidate for President before, but she has thrown her lot in with him. Let's refer to this phenomenon as Oprabama.
I could go on and on but my creative juices on a Monday morning have run dry. Any other ideas?
Amber suggested that since Hillary is really running for Bill's 3rd term, its a two-for-one package so let's call them BILLARY.
ReplyDeletealthough that is good. i actually suggested hillary and obama teaming up ... for oballary :)
